Distance covered in the past 24 hours 147 NM, distance to Horta, Azores 146 NM.
The wind has picked up a little and for the past day we have been sailing nicely on a downwind passage direct to Horta. We are all getting excited that the arrival is imminent and we are crossing our fingers that the wind keeps going long enough to get us into harbour. We passed the 2500 nautical mile post yesterday so had a beer to celebrate.
The weather is distinctly colder now. We have taken to wearing jumpers in the morning and evening and I’ve got the sleeping bags out to keep us warm at night. In this blog I’ve included a photo of Jon (unfortunately a bit blurry) as he is keen to have photographic evidence of his culinary prowess last night as he cooked us a delicious frittata with potato, onion and chorizo.
