The picture says it all. Yesterday we enjoyed sunshine and some great downwind sailing. Today it’s pouring with rain, the waves are towering. and we have winds blowing up to 30 Knots. We are just glad to have made it sufficiently far south to avoid the worst of the weather. Other boats further north are really struggling; one has had two of the saloon port light blown out and crew are trying to stop the sea from pouring into their boat.
Back to yesterday when the gentle conditions prompted Jon to take a Day Skipper Theory lesson from Peter. His head is still spinning! We even put out the fishing line and caught….lots of sargassum seaweed! We had to resort to a vegetable stir fry, but at least it was calm enough to chop food – look at those precision cut carrot and courgette batons. We expect the bad weather to continue for another 36 hours or so with, hopefully, sunshine and calmer conditions to follow.
