Distance covered in the past 24 hours 137 NM, distance to Horta, Azores 285 NM.
We are sailing along at a steady pace. After the strong winds of the first half of the trip, our speed now seems painfully slow, but we are still averaging around five and a half knots. Cate, who is doing a brilliant job monitoring our progress, tells me that we are catching up with and overtaking no end of similar sailboats on the same passage as us. We should have plenty of company in the bars of Horta!
As we approach land our thoughts are turning to food. We ate the good pre-prepared meals in the first week, then moved to vegetarian stir frys, curries and tray bakes. With the fresh food largely exhausted, we are now making our way through French supermarket bought tins of cassoulet and coq au vin. We are all looking forward to a good fresh meal soon.
