The Azores are tantalisingly close but the wind keeps dropping and the boat slows down. It’s a bit frustrating and is forcing us to use the engine more and more. We have plenty of fuel and spare jerry cans on deck so we’ve been able to continue motoring, keeping up our speed and progress. Barring unforeseen problems we hope to arrive at the harbour in Horta on Sunday morning.
We have made further attempts at fishing but are still only catching sargassum seaweed. There are dense patches all over the ocean and it seems to be worse than when we crossed from east to west 18 months ago. Our backgammon tournament continues and we are all in good spirits as we can sense that the end is in sight.
