We’ve had better winds in the past 24 hours and enjoyed a great broad reach sail. The favourable wind looks set to continue today so we’re hoping for more good progress.
On the downside, when we unfurled the main sail we discovered that it has delaminated and frayed quite badly. In the long run it will need to be replaced. Thankfully, we have a spare sail that we will be able to fit when we reach Horta and that should get safely through to Gibraltar. Meanwhile, to protect the remaining undamaged part of the sail, we are sailing with a double reef in the main. With the current wind conditions that is not entirely inappropriate in any case.
Not much else to report. We remain in good spirits continuing our backgammon, Astro navigation, day skipper and fitness regimens!
