Caribbean cruising 2025

Four years in the Mediterranean, a fortune spent on upgrades and repairs, many excuses ticked off, and one “lively” Atlantic passage… we have finally made it to the Caribbean. Making landfall in Grenada, this season we plan to explore the Windward islands, cruising north as far as Martinique before returning to Grenada to leave Merryn in a secure boatyard for the Hurricane season. Time to settle into island life and enjoy a rum punch!

Merryn's position

We have equipped Merryn with a satellite tracking system. It should send a signal every hour (when we are underway, and assuming I have remembered to switch it on!) and the position is then transcribed to the map below.

16th April 2025: Inland St Lucia and St Vincent

We returned to St Lucia and explored the beautiful sights aound the Pitons, painting ourselves in volcanic mud, before heading to St Vincent where we had a wonderful day climbing the magnificent Soufriere volcano .

6th April 2025: Martinique

We’ve spent three weeks on Martinique with Jonathan learning to wing foil and us both enjoying magnificent scenery, windy sailing, friendly people, delicious food, the company of new friends and excellent live music.

23rd March 2025: St Lucia and Martinique

After a few days in St Lucia trying to get some repairs on the boat, we are now in Martinique enjoying this beautiful island, fabulous French food and incredibly well stocked French supermarkets where we have bought kilos of cheese and cases of wine.

10th March 2025: Mayreau, Canouan and Bequia

As we sail up the chain of windward islands the winds are becoming less strong and the islands are showing more signs of recovery after Hurricane Beryl.  Oh! and Jonathan’s 360 degree camera has drowned.

1st March 2025: Carriacou and Union island

We have finally managed to sail away from Grenada and have started to work our way into the islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines. Despite evidence of the destruction caused by Hurricane Beryl last June, the beaches are more remote, more magnificent, and lobster barbecues have been the theme of the past week or so.

19th February 2025: the start of our Caribbean cruise

It is nearly three weeks since we arrived in the Caribbean, and we are only just starting to relax into island life! We have had parties, ceremonies, awards and emotional reunions. We have joined in with he celebrations of Grenada’s Independence Day, toured the island, and we are now relaxing at anchor in Prickly bay

31st January 2025: the arrival

We have arrived in the Caribbean and will be exploring our first island – Grenada – before heading north
