Conditions are finally calming down a little. The swell is gentler but with enough wind to keep us going at a decent pace. By the rally standards, though, we are one of the slower boats. This morning we got the news that the first rally boat had just arrived in Mindelo marina and by this evening about four or five boats had arrived. By our calculations, we still have around another 36 hours to go – possibly meaning a night time arrival in the harbour.
Today’s big news: we caught our first fish! OK, I don’t think that it really counts as a catch; the fish was one of the many flying fish we see in these waters and it flew straight into our cockpit!
Hello both, just been catching up since you started your big adventure. Both Gary and I wish you well on your journey and will follow each day cheering from the sidelines.
I have to say, I would have far more apprehension than excitement at the thought of crossing the Atlantic, it seems there have been enough drama just sailing to Cape Verde! I think that’s where I’d ask to get off 😂 but as experienced sailors you seemingly take it in your stride. Have the most amazing time and look forward to reading your posts. Love to you both Kris and Gary x
Hi Kris, thanks for your kind words. So far everything is going well, and we are already beginning to worry about the next leg! Have a great skiing holiday – we will miss being out there with you. J&C xx
Happy to hear you made it to the Cape Verdes safely, fair winds for the next passage. We are enjoying the skiing in the Dolomites, off to meet the kids in Tignes end of the month. A and Ax
Hi Alex,
Good to hear from you. So far, so good, although the winds are looking stronger and the waves bigger than we would have hoped for the next leg! Have a great time skiing.J&Cxx
