Final preparations!
In the last couple of days we have been running around the boat and around the supermarkets. It is amazing how many things we are remembering and trying to sort out, when just a week or two ago we thought we had it all done. Even the passage plan to Cape Verde proved challenging as I discovered that my electronic chart didn’t cover the Cape Verde islands at all – one more trip to the chandler to sort that out. Hmmm…
We have been checking and double-checking – going up the mast to check the rigging and lights, around the boat to check the safety kit, set up the Hydrovane, adjust the lines and repair worn canvas. Inside we have commissioned the water maker, stocked with food, pre-cooked a few meals, and taken delivery of vast quantities of fruit, veg, meat and so on.
This evening we had the final skipper’s briefing where we double checked the weather and sailing conditions. All looks set fair, so we have no excuses – on Monday we will start the rally.
